Baku – APA. Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey and Kizilcahamam municipality of Ankara organized founding ceremony of the monument in memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the bloody events. The embassy officials told APA that Azerbaijani Ambassador Faig Bagirov, member of Azerbaijani parliament Ganira Pashayeva, head of Turkey-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group Necdet Unuvar, Turkish parliamentarians, head of Kizilcahamam municipality Coskun Unal, representatives of public community, diaspora and mass media attended the event.
The ceremony started with a minute of silence to pay tribute to the victims of Khojaly genocide and playing national anthems of both countries. Then head of Kizilcahamam municipality Coskun Unal, diaspora representative Prof. Dr. Eflatun Nemetzadeh, head of Turkey-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group Necdet Unuvar, Ambassador Faig Bagirov and member of Azerbaijani parliament Ganira Pashayeva shared their opinions with other participants.
Following the monument founding ceremony, a large event on 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide was held at the Orta Doghu (Middle East) Technical University. The documentary produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was shown in the event. Ambassador Faig Bagirov awarded the Azerbaijani students studying in Turkey, who played Nazim Muradov’s “Khojaly Cry” spectacle. “Justice for Khojaly” International Awareness Campaign was continued in the event. Materials about the tragedy were submitted to the participants. A photo exhibition dedicated to Khojaly genocide was organized during the event.
